Fabric pack and pattern for Interpolations 3 Quilt designed by Helen Howes of Helen Howes Textiles.
Content:
- 16 x Ruby Reds 5" Charm Squares, 1.5m Colourshott 28 Vintage Silver
- Pattern and instructions (link supplied in Order Confirmation)
100% mercerised shot cottons - each colourway combines a base colour warp with a complementary or contrasting weft thread. This produces the trademark ‘shot’ effect when colours appear to shimmer and ‘move’ depending on how the light falls. It lends extra depth and texture to your project.
Level of difficulty: confident beginner / intermediate.
In the designer's words: Helen describes her fascination with fabric colour and texture and her need to create something that has never been made by anyone else.

Fabric widths
Our fabrics are cut from a 54” / 137 cm bolt width - that’s up to 23% wider than 'standard'. This means that our cut lengths and pre-cut packs provide a surprising amount of fabric!
Oakshott Pre-cuts
Because they’re cut from 54” / 137 cm wide bolts, our cuts are up to a third bigger than 'standard'.
Our pre-cuts come in Fat 8ths, Fat Quarter, Half Metre Block or 1 Metre packs. 5” Charm Squares are available for individual collections.
Caring for your shot cottons - before, during and after sewing
We use the best quality reactive dyes which provide the best fastness to light, rubbing and especially to washing. This however cannot be guaranteed and as many quilts are future heritage projects, we recommend dry cleaning.
Our fabrics are soft finished with steam after production and most quilters do not prewash them. If prewashing is preferred, then only by hand in clean water at 30C, please.
Our fabrics are pure finished ie they don’t contain binders / wax / starch etc. The handle will therefore change very little when the fabric is washed. They may however fray slightly more than ‘finished’ fabrics and to minimise this, we recommend overlocking cut edges prior to washing.
Do not machine wash and do not tumble dry. Dark and light colours should be washed separately. Avoid optical whiteners and chlorine based cleaning products. Gently towel dry and iron whilst damp. Allow for a shrinkage of 3-5%.
If you’re not familiar with Oakshott, here are a few hints and tips to help you navigate our site more easily. If you don't find the answer to your question here, please get in touch.

WHAT ARE ‘SHOT’ COTTONS?
Each colourway is achieved by selecting a base colour warp and marrying it with a complementary or contrasting weft thread. This produces our trademark ‘shot’ effect, when the colour appears to shimmer and change depending on how the light falls. They appear to have depth and movement.
Many of our collections - Lakes, Lipari, Ruby Reds, Scandinavia and Sorbet - combine a single warp shade with a rainbow of weft threads. This ensures that the colours mix, match and tone happily together and it makes for easy colour combining.

Helen has chosen three gorgeous colourways: each pack produces one bag. Make one to match your favourite outfit... then make another just for fun!
Bramble:
- 1 x Bramble Fat 8ths Pack 6 colours
- Pattern and instructions
Summer Blues:
- 1 x Summer Blues Fat 8ths Pack 6 colours
- Pattern and instructions
Storm:
- 1 x Storm Fat 8ths Pack 6 colours
- Pattern and instructions
Please note: fabric for the lining is not included and must be bought separately.

Piccadilly Hexagon Block Pack 'n Pattern, size 12.5" x 14.5" / 32 cm x 37 cm

Fabric pack and pattern for Piccadilly Hexagon Block designed by Suzanne Campion.
Content:
- 1 x Forest Fruits Fat 8ths Colour Pick
- Pattern and instructions
Please note: backing fabric is not included.
100% mercerised shot cottons - each colourway combines a base colour warp with a complementary or contrasting weft thread. This produces the trademark ‘shot’ effect when colours appear to shimmer and ‘move’ depending on how the light falls. It lends extra depth and texture to your project.
Level of difficulty: intermediate. This play on the traditional tumbling block and hexagon design is so rich in tessellated geometric shapes that the eye can find so many different ways to see it. I named it Piccadilly as it seemed to mirror the multiple routes out of the busy central hub of a teeming Piccadilly Circus. Like Piccadilly, it is busy and exciting but firmly rooted in a solid structure.
In the designer's words: Suzanne describes her desire to create with textiles.

Birgitta again...
"The Scandinavia colour selection evokes the winter spirit of the pine cone, with its frosty tones and light touch. To my surprise, some people rather think of summer when seeing the quilt. So I imagine it will look good on any wall or over any couch, whatever the season, and I do hope you enjoy making it."

Fabric pack and pattern for Poles Apart Wall Quilt designed by Helen Butcher of Little Patch Pockets. Part of Helen's Illusion Series of 3D designs created exclusively for Oakshott (see also Hexahedron).
Content:
- 6 x Colourshott Fat 8ths: Nautilus, Apollo, Ice Blue, Mulberry, Plum, Petunia
- Pattern and instructions
100% mercerised shot cottons - each colourway combines a base colour warp with a complementary or contrasting weft thread. This produces the trademark ‘shot’ effect when colours appear to shimmer and ‘move’ depending on how the light falls. It lends extra depth and texture to your project.
Level of difficulty: confident beginner / intermediate.
Helen describes the thrill of working with the latest Colourshott additions:
" The new Colourshotts are perfect for this 3D design. These electric blues just jump out of the quilt and pairing them with the slightly more muted but still gorgeous purples and mauves makes for a vivid contrast. These colours work particularly well in this design - the central shape appears to be suspended in a magnetic field and the intensity of the blues makes the image float above the ground. "
In the designer's words: Helen Butcher discusses the importance of colour, tone and weave in choosing fabric for her patchwork designs.

Do not machine wash and do not tumble dry. Dark and light colours should be washed separately. Avoid optical whiteners and chlorine based cleaning products. Gently towel dry and iron whilst damp. Allow for a shrinkage of 3-5%.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR THE FABRICS - BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER SEWING?
We use the best quality reactive dyes which provide the best fastness to light, rubbing and especially to washing. This however cannot be guaranteed and as many quilts are future heritage projects, we recommend dry cleaning. Our fabrics are soft finished with steam after production and most quilters do not prewash them. If prewashing is preferred, then only by hand in clean water at 30C, please.

You can use our selector to see product prices in one of seven currencies. The currency you choose will be stored for the next time you visit. Please note however that orders will be processed in GBP.

TAX/DUTY/VAT
Our product prices are shown both with and without VAT (product tax). VAT is NOT charged on shipments outside the UK. However local taxes may apply.
For UK shipments, VAT is applied automatically at the current rate (20%).
WHEN WILL MY ORDER BE DELIVERED?
We aim to dispatch orders received within 1-3 full working days of receipt and we ship daily worldwide. Normal services are shown on the Delivery & Returns page and on every product page. Customers are often surprised at how quickly their order is delivered!
WHAT IS THE COST OF SHIPPING?
Our charges for packaging and shipping are shown on the Delivery & Returns page and on every product page.
HOW CAN I COMPARE THE SHADES OF ONE COLOUR, ACROSS ALL THE COLLECTIONS?
Our 'filter by colour' facility makes this easy.
- Click 'Shop' in the top bar.
- Click the downward arrow beside 'Colour' and check the colour of your choice. Here we filtered on Green to find the Greens from all our collections.
WHERE CAN I SEE AND TOUCH OAKSHOTT FABRICS?
We have a small number of retail partners who bring Oakshott closer to you via physical shops, online stores and regional events. For advice on colour choice, fabric quantity and more, we trust their expertise and so can you.
Order processing

- When ordering for delivery to a country outside the UK, your items may be subject to import duties and sales taxes which are incurred once a shipment reaches its destination country. You will be responsible for payment of any such duties and taxes. Please note that we have no control over these charges, if they are applied, and cannot predict their amount.
