Charles Rennie Mackintosh - architect, designer and artist - was one of Scotland's most influential creative figures. 2018 marks the 150th anniversary of his birth and special celebrations will be taking place in and around Glasgow's Mackintosh venues, not to mention further afield. Susanne Pickup of Westbury Quilters in Wiltshire (UK) got in touch to share with us her own personal Mackintosh celebration, made using our Colourshotts. She tells us: As a long-standing admirer and a member of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, I have been inspired to make my own tribute to him in applique, patchwork, stencilling and machine embroidery. You can perhaps make out the stylised Willow Tree from one of his tearoom chairs, Glasgow roses and teardrops and groups of three triangles from the front door of his house in Northampton. The black Kimono shape is taken from a piece of furniture showing the Japanese influence in his work. The Room de Luxe at The Willow Tearooms, Glasgow: image courtesy of Dave Souza at Wikipedia.
