Chester Cathedral motif

Cathedral motif on sandstone shades

Barbara Harrison sent us this image of a small quilt that she made with her friend, Sue Horder. Barbara tells us:

Back in 2013, Chester Patchworkers and Quilters held an exhibition and members were invited to create a piece inspired by images found in Chester Cathedral. In order to publicise the exhibition, which was to be held in the Chapter House, off the Cloisters, we wanted to place a small quilt in the cathedral shop to encourage visitors to view our exhibition. The Cathedral allowed us to re-create the logo that it uses in its own publications.

The pieced background lent itself to the beautiful Oakshott brown palette, echoing the mellow sandstone of the building. The sheen on the highlighted quilt and the appliquéd logo made it stand out and attract attention.

We love the understated elegance of this beautiful quilt.
